My Fruit is Yours South Australia - On my way to A-Town

Packing some light fruit and sandwichs is a habit for me for long drives. A good 6 litres of water also helps me power on only stopping to fill the tank. However, when crossing the South Australian border just before Pinaroo watch out for the quarantine station. They raid your car and take your delicious carefully sliced fruit and drop it into a bin. I was distraught and grunted at the service attendant at the next SA gas station to make passage to Adelaide.

Karma is a bitch. My notch back on SA occured during the stretch of road from Pinaroo to Lameroo. Crossing the path with a thundering Holden Commodore cruising at 110km/ph is not a recommended activity, especially when your a magpie blissfully unaware of dangerous highways. Sweeping around an interstate to dive into an oncoming vehicle resulted in this poor bird’s death. A blistering pop and a cloud of black and white feathers in the rear vision, thanks for coming.

Hitting the road again with 1000 km to travel before arriving in Adelaide to celebrate Christmas in my hometown. After driving nearly 3000 km this is nothing. I had the intention of stopping for maybe one Driver Reviver but drearily carried on. Definitely a severe lack of Driver Reviver stations on the B400/B12 highway. On the way through regional Victoria I seemed to be locked into the 100km limit. Hour after hour of highway driving to suddenly be let loose at a 110km limit is a blessing in disguise. It actually feels like I’m making progress - Well done to the SA regional speed limit. Woot!

In the sweeping roads between after Lameroo on the B12 highway I hungrily tuned my FM radio to 92.7 Mhz awaiting the timed thumps within the RF noise. At this stage the reception was weak but over each crest the bass beat started to dominate. Adelaide’s Fresh FM was welcomed music to my ears. Cruising in my Commodore listening to Fresh FM. Loving it in on my way to A-Town!
