Yesterday I registered for the Cumberoona Fun Run in Albury. Early this morning on this beautiful Autumn day I realised I had no runners. I left them in Melbourne and ran 6.5km in Adidas dress shoes. My self-motivating thoughts echoed, ‘If they are good enough for a 1920’s athlete they’re good enough for me!’
The course began at 10AM in Noreuil Park, Albury, NSW with a run along the riverside path to Oddy’s Hill and back. See map for detailed route. It was part of the 2008 Albury MultiSport Spectacular during the weekend of the 1st - 2nd of March.
Other events held included the Norske Skog 1km Murray swim and a 4.2 km run aquathon, kayaking, the Full Cycle downhill mountain biking, rollerblading, 90 minute Orienteering, and the 133km Lake Hume road cycling challenge. Check out the Events Program for more details.

WAITING 4 HOURS FOR MY FLIGHT TO ARRIVE (JQ919 - Townsville to Melbourne - 8th-Feb-08)
4 hours of patiently sitting on my tush with my complimentary $8 snack and coffee voucher at the airport kiosk. What rubs me the wrong way is the complete failure to mention the magical ‘S’ word from the Jetstar counter attendant. Snap! Read the rest of this entry »

As I depart by car from my beloved Adelaide I journey up my old favourite cycling challenge. For the past five visits to Adelaide I’ve conquered Mount Lofty. Located at the end of the Mount Lofty Ranges it towers above Adelaide at 710 metres.
On most occasions when I get to visit my hometown Adelaide for holiday leave I try to always bring my bicycle - the amazing 2005 Learsport 7700. I am an avid cycling enthusiast and not a professional. I enjoy the fitness, the views and the challenges of ‘getting up that hill’ and ‘going the distance’. Hopping on the bike and doing the kilometres is what I should be doing. However due to circumstances out of my control (insert excuses here) I could not bring down the bike for this visit.

Nothing better than being back home in Adelaide, shopping on Rundle Mall, sipping a hot coffee and checking emails a.k.a. blogging…
Strolling up and down the main shopping strip in Adelaide showing my girlfriend what Adelaide has to offer. The shops are busy with business as usual and not a cloud in the sky. We seem to have accumulated several bags at each side already so it’s time for a break. Read the rest of this entry »

Back in Adelaide today and we made our way down to the beach. Where the shops and bistros of Jetty Rd meet the ocean is Adelaide’s busiest beach - Glenelg. However on this day it blew and blew. Laying a towel on the sand was difficult, trying to breathe without 50km/hr sand blowing into your mouth nearly impossible. We could handle 10 minutes then we walked, we’ll try again tomorrow. Besides the hectic winds we enjoyed our stroll along Jetty Rd. Cafes, shopping and the beach - this is life to me in Australia.

Where did our gear go? Sandstorm in Glenelg
Leroys is pumping out the brunchs at 11AM. It is nearly packed. Phew its hot where is my mango frappe! This place is so cool. Gig posters span the walls in all directions. Young crew serve great food - ciabattas with pesto, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon are delicious. Going for a stroll through the shops of Acland St then to the beach of St Kilda.

Just having a seat at Leroys. A nice mango frappe, muesli and yoghart, chillin with the missus. It is moments like this I won’t ever forget.
Over the new year we stayed at the Leo Pacific Hotel located at 378 Little Bourke St in Melbourne. Two nights minimum booked on Wotif.com was simply too easy. Situated in the heart of the CBD between Queen St and Elizabeth St it provides easy access to shopping, restaurants, entertainment venues and transport. Over the new year celebrations we paid $199 for the first night and $120 for the second. The normal price for our studio apartment with queen bed and kitchnette was just over $115 in non-holiday periods. Parking is ridiculous if you stay in a tower with it being around $45 a day, if you find a spot on the street make sure you feed the meter religiously! Inside was spotless, clean and quality fittings. Key card entry, no frivolous accessories just cheap quality accommodation in the city. We booked it on Wotif the night before New Years so it must not be too well known at the moment. Their loss and my gain. I recommend Leo Pacific to anyone needing to stay in the city in affordable quality accommodation.
