It seems our beloved Adelaide Citilan is illegal under EU law with the Dublin City Council rejecting plans for blanket wireless coverage of the Irish city in early January 2008.
The Citilan enjoyed in Adelaide’s CBD categorised as a municipal Wi-Fi. It is a joint venture from Adelaide City Council, m.net, AirNet and Internode. It provides wireless Internet to mobile PC users throughout the the main areas of the city. Read more: How to use free WiFi Internet on Rundle Mall
A similar venture has been abandoned by Dublin City Council as it would be illegal under European Union state aid laws. Claims have also been made by the British Labour government that the Dublin City Council has been pressured by existing commercial operators to discard of the project. It seems municipal WiFi (mass wireless networks provided by the state) is a failed business model and impossible to maintain without government costs spiralling out of control. Read the rest of this entry »

Happy 25th Birthday Anthony!
We celebrated the quarter century milestone with a table of fourteen at Cafe Salsa near West Beach. The home style Italian cuisine was served up in an relaxed outdoor setting. The Mediterranean style building featured large glassed doors and an outdoor covered dining area surrounded by palm trees. They have a sizable selection of wines with our final choice being the Tempranillo. For starters we had the garlic flat bread followed by the Kangaroo fillet with my partner ordering the linguine with cockles and mussels. Read the rest of this entry »
Nothing better than being back home in Adelaide, shopping on Rundle Mall, sipping a hot coffee and checking emails a.k.a. blogging…
Strolling up and down the main shopping strip in Adelaide showing my girlfriend what Adelaide has to offer. The shops are busy with business as usual and not a cloud in the sky. We seem to have accumulated several bags at each side already so it’s time for a break. Read the rest of this entry »

Back in Adelaide today and we made our way down to the beach. Where the shops and bistros of Jetty Rd meet the ocean is Adelaide’s busiest beach - Glenelg. However on this day it blew and blew. Laying a towel on the sand was difficult, trying to breathe without 50km/hr sand blowing into your mouth nearly impossible. We could handle 10 minutes then we walked, we’ll try again tomorrow. Besides the hectic winds we enjoyed our stroll along Jetty Rd. Cafes, shopping and the beach - this is life to me in Australia.

Where did our gear go? Sandstorm in Glenelg

By using a new camera underwater footage has discovered creatures that look like aliens.
Bloggers use the blog as a personal outlet to vent frustration, creativity, to be sociable, to show off… but eventually you start to think - with all the time you put your blog you should be getting something in return - especially if you pay for hosting and internet access. Blog monetisation was born.
Will the next article on problogger.net or johnchow.com be the magic tip that only I can capitalise allowing me to crush the competition? All I need to do is get that specialised blog running. I find myself doing everyday things asking myself is this a ‘niche’ not yet exploited? Will toiletcleaner.com be already in use? (It actually is!!) It all seems to much so lets sit back and put it into context. What are we up against? Read the rest of this entry »
Leroys is pumping out the brunchs at 11AM. It is nearly packed. Phew its hot where is my mango frappe! This place is so cool. Gig posters span the walls in all directions. Young crew serve great food - ciabattas with pesto, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon are delicious. Going for a stroll through the shops of Acland St then to the beach of St Kilda.

Just having a seat at Leroys. A nice mango frappe, muesli and yoghart, chillin with the missus. It is moments like this I won’t ever forget.

As you do when you’re an out-of-towner in Melbourne casually walking along a dark narrow lane at night we stumbled into something significant. To escape the frantic pace of federation square after the new year of 2008 clicked over we wandered into ‘the opium den’. Little known to us it had been voted New Bar of the Year 2006 and Australia’s Bar of the Year 2007! The Golden Monkey certainly lives up to the title with my girl and I enjoying ourselves immensely.
